The passing of Dewi ‘Pws’ Morris

The passing of Dewi ‘Pws’ Morris. 

This very sad news was a great shock and a tremendous loss. Dewi’s contribution to our culture was huge in many areas and our sympathies are with Rhiannon and family.  Dewi was a keen supporter of Eos, The Welsh Music Publishers and Composers Agency and he was passionate about protecting Welsh music in the media.  He was also a strong supporter of Yes Cymru and independence, and composed and recorded many songs for the campaign. Although he was 76 years old, age was not something that 

could be attributed to Dewi – he was of all ages and age-less, 

and was happy in the company of children, young people and adults alike. He was an instinctive prankster, and never missed an opportunity, and indeed almost everyone who came across him expected that too, whether on the street or on stage! Dewi was also very versatile – a poet, an actor, a composer, a comedian, a musician and also a voice-over artist on a number of Welsh cartoons for children. He will be greatly missed but thank goodness, a huge number of his contributions are preserved for posterity – and so his invaluable contribution to our nation’s culture will never be forgotten.
